Miami – The first edition of “Morocco Days in Miami,” held on October 22 to 24 with the participation of several Moroccan and American officials, investors, and economic stakeholders, aims to promote trade and investment between Morocco and the United States, while building new bridges across the Atlantic, said Morocco’s Consul General in Miami, Chafika El Habti.

“This initiative is part of the implementation of the High Orientations of His Majesty King Mohammed VI aimed at promoting the Kingdom’s image, culture, civilization, intangible heritage, and economic dynamism,” Ms. El Habti said in a statement on this occasion.

This year’s event marks a dual celebration of “Unity Day” and the 250th anniversary of historic Moroccan-American relations, she noted, highlighting the longstanding ties between the two countries and the importance of further strengthening them through initiatives that encourage exchanges and foster closer relations between the two peoples.

Organized by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Miami, in partnership with the City of Coral Gables (Greater Miami), the Chamber of Crafts of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra Region, the Chamber of Crafts of the Drâa-Tafilalet Region, and the Moroccan National Tourist Office, this first edition featured a rich and diverse program of business meetings, conferences, and activities showcasing Moroccan crafts and promoting the caftan, Ms. El Habti said.

“Through Morocco Days in Miami, we wanted to showcase Morocco in all its dimensions: its strategic vision, its heritage and the expertise of its artisans,” she added.

The event brought together officials, academics, business leaders, Florida residents eager to discover the Kingdom, and members of the Moroccan community.

The Consul General expressed her hope that the gathering would become an annual event “in the service of friendship between Morocco and the United States” and contribute to strengthening ties with the Moroccan community in Florida.

The program of this inaugural edition included a conference at Florida International University (FIU), an exhibition of Moroccan handicrafts at Ponce Circle Park in Coral Gables, and a gala evening.

The two-day crafts fair gave several artisans from Morocco the opportunity to showcase hand-woven rugs, caftans, jewelry, teapots, and tableware to the local public, as well as local products, including argan oil.

Their participation in this event was organized in collaboration with the Chamber of Crafts of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra Region.
