El Jadida – The Digital Agriculture, Forestry, and Drought Observatory Hub and the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses (SOREC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday in El Jadida, aimed at developing digital services dedicated to the Moroccan equine sector.

Signed by the director of the digital hub, Loubna El Mansouri, and the director general of SOREC, Omar Skalli, on the sidelines of the third edition of “Digital Horse Day,” organized as part of the 17th El Jadida Horse Show, this agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two parties in the areas of innovation and digital transformation.

As part of the “Generation Green 2020-2030” strategy, this partnership aims to leverage digital technologies, data analytics, and AI to modernize the equine industry and improve the quality of services offered to its various stakeholders.

The MoU focuses on identifying the industry’s needs that can be met by digital solutions, designing and testing innovative services, conducting technology monitoring, strengthening team skills, and connecting with national and international partners.

“Digital technology is the future of all sectors,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of introducing AI and new digital services for the benefit of breeders, horse owners, and the general public.

These technologies must also contribute to optimizing horse performance and reducing the risks inherent in this activity, he added.

In this regard, the Director General of SOREC indicated that the “FARAS” application now allows users to remotely complete several procedures that previously required visits to the national stud farms.

This application provides access to information about horses, their performance, and various transactions, while also enabling registration in the national registry, participation in competitions, and viewing results, all directly from a smartphone, he explained.

For her part, Ms. El Mansouri stated, in a similar declaration, that the signing of this memorandum formalizes a collaboration already underway since 2024 between the Digital Hub and SOREC.

She noted that several joint initiatives are already operational, including digital solutions deployed in the stud farms managed by SOREC and a chatbot developed in partnership with the company.

This memorandum represents a first step towards a lasting partnership between the two parties, with the ambition of making digital innovation a lever for structuring and enhancing the competitiveness of the Moroccan equine sector, she noted.

Initiated by the Horse Show Association, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and centered around the theme “The Horse at the Service of Humankind,” the 17th edition of the El Jadida Horse Show continues until October 18, with a rich and diverse scientific, cultural, and recreational program.

Several horse-related activities are being organized, including high-level competitions and exhibitions.

The cultural and scientific aspects are also well represented, with the horse at the heart of numerous conferences, workshops, and roundtables, as well as a variety of recreational activities for young audiences.
